The Butterworth Family would like to acknowledge the tremendous outpouring of support, love and caring that we received in response to the terrible accident that our son Tim experienced on July 12. The West Stockbridge and Berkshires communities have reinforced our notion that this is a wonderful place to live for many reasons, but especially because of the people we call our neighbors and friends.
It has come to our attention that some folks are interested in raising funds to assist us with Tim’s ongoing care. Again, we were humbled to learn of this, but somewhat uncomfortable with it. Currently, we are able to manage our financial situation with insurance and some good contacts in the Boston area that have provided us with discounted or free hotel rooms, apartment use, parking and even some meals. At the same time, our home and pets continue to be looked after in our absence. But, because we can’t know the long term extent of Tim’s injuries and the limits of our insurance coverage (although it seems fairly comprehensive at this time) we realize that we should accept these offers in the spirit with which they have been offered.
Tim is currently living at the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston, where he will be undergoing at least 12 weeks of intensive therapies. The goal is to become independent, but how that is defined remains to be seen. We may need to make modifications to our home, and Tim might benefit from special equipment for a car or computer to make his life moe manageable.
We pledge that any funds raised on behalf of Tim Butterworth will only be used for his benefit. When the time comes when Tim has become fully independent, any remaining money in the funds will be donated to the West Stockbridge and Richmond Rescue Squads, BMC and Spaulding.
Thank you again for the ongoing concern and support for Tim.
I've been attempting to do what I can to help the Butterworths on the fundraising end of things and so want to add this little bit of info so that anyone interested in making a contribution to the “Butters Fund” can know the way to go about it:

Hi, Well as you know I bought 1000 "I love Tim Butterworth" rubber bracelets. Even though no thought went into this before hand, and it was 100% in the moment thinking back I feel it was a good Idea. They are not too big and I feel that people of all ages will want to have one unlike, a hat or something that you put away and never see again. I am going to sell them for 5$ "but I had a dream last night that I was selling them for 6" anyway it should make a little over four and a half thousand dollars for Tim, and I have no doubt that I will sell them all. I have a little table at Zuck fest on the 11th, I think I am going to be with someone else who is doing the raffle. But if they want me to handle that also I will be more than happy. I am making my dad put up a wooden frame around that table. If it is raining I can put something water proof over it, and if it is hot and sunny I will put something like fabric over it. To go along with it I am making a "Tim Butterworth" sign, and also a mural of photos of Tim.. I am going to be at the booth all day, along with Nadia, Madi, Nora, Jake Foose, Leam, just to name a few. Who will be coming by through out the day to help me. I am not sure if this was what you wanted to know but... yeha. Ok Nice to see you guys yesterday. I think I am going to come down on Monday or Tuesday next week. I want to give Tim a bracelet before anyone says anything about them. Or do you think I should send him one in the mail as soon as I get them? Have a nice day!
